23 days in and device proximity doesn’t seem to be much of an issue for me anymore.
My old self would have always had his phone near him at all times. I would have had it right next to my desk when I was working, in my pocket when I was out and in front of me on the coffee table when relaxing on the couch and next to me when I slept.
I think perhaps my glasses and my wedding ring were the only other things that were this close to me at all times!
As I’ve gone through this process of giving up my mobile more and more I’ve found that now I quite often have to look around the house for me phone.
That never happened before. I always knew where it was at all times!
Today I even ducked out to the shops and completely forgot to take my phone with me.
Sometimes when I put my phone in my pocket now, it feels heavy. This tells me that I’m going down the right path in not having to have my phone close to me or in my pocket at all times.
I’ve also had my phone run flat on me. This was a surprise as I used to always keep a very close eye on the battery, like a junkie watching closely as their stash slowly diminishes with use.
I’m not close to my phone anymore. Now it’s just a thing, a tool. Something to make phone calls with.
Before, it was my central hub where I spent a bulk of my time.
Not anymore! I’m hanging up the headphones.
